The most widely used system in school yards, housing estates and municipal courts. It strikes the balance between price and durability across the widest range of uses; the great majority of outdoor basketball courts in Turkey are built this way.

Best suited to: School yards, municipal park courts, shared areas in housing estates and training courts used a few hours a week.

Key strengths
  • Ball bounce is predictable and identical across the court; playing quality is high.
  • The surface is non-porous, dries quickly after rain and play can resume.
  • The colour coat is UV resistant; fading in sunlight is slow.
  • Repairs are straightforward — a worn area can be renewed as a patch.

Points to consider: It is a hard surface with low shock absorption. For primary school yards, where falls are frequent, EPDM or cushioned acrylic is more suitable. The concrete slab underneath must be reinforced and laid to fall; a slab that cracks takes the coating with it.

The cushioning layer reduces load on joints and knees. Preferred for club and academy courts with heavy training use; it carries every property of standard acrylic and adds shock absorption on top.

Best suited to: Club and academy courts, facilities used for several hours of training a day, projects where player health is the priority.

Key strengths
  • The four cushioning coats between primer and colour reduce the load of jumping and landing.
  • In long training sessions knee and ankle fatigue sets in noticeably later.
  • Service life is two to three years longer than standard acrylic; the layer thickness protects the surface.
  • It can also be applied indoors.

Points to consider: The cost per square metre is roughly a third higher than standard acrylic. On housing-estate courts used a few hours a week that difference does not pay for itself; standard acrylic is sufficient there.

  • The lowest cost per square metre of any system here.
  • A reinforced concrete slab is not mandatory; a compacted granular sub-base is enough in most applications.
  • Volleyball and five-a-side football can be played on the same surface.
  • The surface is soft, so the risk of grazes in a fall is lower than on hard surfaces.

Points to consider: Ball bounce is lower than on hard surfaces and the foot can slide on sharp changes of direction; we do not recommend it for a court intended solely for basketball. If the sand and granule infill is not brushed and topped up once a year the fibres lie flat and service life shortens.

Best suited to: Primary and secondary school yards, courts adjoining play areas, nurseries and special education facilities, municipal children's parks.

Key strengths
  • Shock absorption measured against fall height is the highest of any outdoor system.
  • The colour range is wide; lines for several sports can be separated by colour.
  • The surface is permeable, so water does not pond on it.
  • Granule layer thickness is chosen between 13 and 20 millimetres to suit the use.

Points to consider: Maintenance is more demanding than acrylic; the porous structure traps dust and leaves, and permeability drops if it is not swept regularly. Spiked footwear and wheeled vehicles can tear the surface. Surface temperature in summer sun is higher than acrylic.

Allows year-round use. More economical than timber and easier to maintain; it is the most common solution in multi-sport halls.

  • Used all twelve months of the year, independent of rain, snow and wind.
  • Far less affected by changes in humidity than timber; needs no periodic lacquering.
  • Roll application is fast; a hall floor is completed in a few days.
  • Lines can be welded or painted, and multiple sports are supported.

Points to consider: The unit price is more than twice that of outdoor systems, because the steel structure and roof are part of the scope. If only the floor is being renewed the cost is far below this range. It is not chosen for halls where competition-grade timber is required.

Points to consider: Humidity control is essential; if the hall lacks waterproofing and ventilation the timber moves and lifts. It needs periodic lacquering and an annual overhaul. The capital cost is the highest of all systems.

On courts where the concrete slab is sound and the levels and falls are suitable, only the surface is replaced without renewing the substructure. It is the fastest and most economical option; the court is usually back in use within a week.

Best suited to: Courts with a worn surface but a sound slab, school yards with faded colour, municipal courts with lines worn away.

  • With no excavation, fill or concrete pour, the cost is far below a full build.
  • The work is finished in a few days and does not block a school or facility calendar for long.
  • Site traffic and noise are kept to a minimum.
  • Lines are re-marked to current FIBA dimensions as part of the same job.

Points to consider: It applies only to courts with a sound slab. If there is settlement, deep cracking or ponding water, repair comes first; a coating laid without dealing with those cracks in the same place within a year. We measure the condition of the slab at the survey and report it in writing.

Cost is calculated over the area actually surfaced — including the safety run-off — not over the marked playing area. The difference is far from negligible.

The FIBA competition size. The playing area bounded by the lines is 28 × 15 metres; with the minimum 2 metres of safety margin on every side, the area actually surfaced rises to 32 × 19 metres. This size governs every court intended for official competition. The safety margin is not decoration: a player crossing the line needs distance to stop, and hitting a fence or wall ends in injury.

A single-basket half court. Chosen where space is tight or the budget is limited. It covers about a third of the area of a full court, so the cost falls in the same proportion. Adequate for training, school breaks and housing-estate use; most three-a-side games are played on a half court anyway. Official competition cannot be held on it.

The official FIBA 3×3 size. Played on a single basket, taking less than half the area of a full court and well suited to running tournaments. It has become the most requested size in municipal and school projects in recent years: it fits tight sites and has a recognised standard behind it.

The smallest size, for house gardens and housing-estate applications. Only the area in front of the basket is surfaced; it is intended for shooting, dribbling and one-on-one play. In villa gardens and narrow estate plots it is the realistic answer — instead of giving up on a court because the space is short, it delivers something children will use every day.

What Drives the Cost

Two courts of the same size can differ in price by a factor of two. These are the six items that create the difference, and below we explain how each one feeds into the budget.

Condition of the existing ground

This is the item nobody sees and the one that moves the budget most. The depth of topsoil, the bearing capacity of the ground and the level differences across the site determine how much excavation and fill are needed. On flat, sound ground excavation takes a few days; on a sloping or made-up site the same work runs into weeks and many times the material.

It is the first thing we measure at the survey; where the level difference is large it appears as a separate item in the quotation.

Choice of surface system

Between artificial turf and timber there is a difference of more than five times per square metre. But the decision is not taken on price alone: who will use the court, and how often, is what governs it. On an estate court used a few hours a week the most expensive system never pays for itself; on a club court used three hours a day the cheapest one is finished in three years.

We compare the surface systems above, together with who each one suits.

Court size

Site set-up, material haulage, plant mobilisation and crew day rates are fixed costs; on a small court they are divided across fewer square metres and the unit price rises. Below 300 square metres the increase is about 12%, below 150 square metres about 22%. On large courts the reverse applies.

Equipment

Perimeter fencing, lighting, goals and seating can account for up to a third of the total. They are separate work items rather than part of the surface, and are itemised individually in the quotation. Which of them is genuinely needed depends on use: a fence is essential on a court beside a road and may be unnecessary in an enclosed garden; lighting produces half the value of the investment on a court used in the evening.

Outdoor or indoor

On an indoor court the steel structure, roof covering, ventilation and hall lighting come into scope, and the unit cost is more than double an outdoor court. In return an indoor court is used all twelve months. An outdoor court in the Ankara climate is effectively unusable in winter and on wet days; measured as cost per day of use, the two systems move closer together.

An existing outdoor court can also be roofed over later; the slab and surface are retained.

Location

On out-of-city work, haulage, crew accommodation and plant mobilisation add cost. On projects outside Ankara this difference runs between 3% and 8% and is shown openly in the quotation. Beyond distance, access to the site also matters: in a garden a machine cannot enter, excavation and fill are done by hand, which adds time and labour.

Turnkey Basketball Court Construction

Site survey, level taking, excavation and crushed stone fill, drainage, mesh-reinforced concrete slab, surface application, line marking to FIBA dimensions and installation of equipment are all done by us. Because the work runs through one party, responsibility is not divided. The most common problem on multi-contractor jobs is the surfacing contractor saying "the concrete was poured badly" and the concrete contractor saying "the surface was laid wrongly"; the one left in the middle is the client. A turnkey contract leaves no such grey area: whoever built the court also carries the warranty.

Sports Surfacing and Renewal

On courts where the existing concrete slab is sound, only the surface is replaced without renewing the substructure. After surface cleaning, crack repair and level correction, primer, filler and colour coats are applied. The decision to resurface is taken at the survey: if there is settlement, deep cracking or ponding water, a coating laid without dealing with those will separate in the same place within a year. We measure the condition of the slab and report it in writing; we do not sell resurfacing to a court where resurfacing will not be enough.

Substructure, Drainage and Concrete Slab

Compacted graded crushed stone fill, drainage pipework and gully system, mesh-reinforced C25 concrete slab and the falls set for rainwater discharge. Slabs poured without reinforcement or without fall crack in the first winter and take the surface with them. The layer that determines the life of a court is invisible at handover: if the topsoil was not fully stripped the ground settles, if the stone was not laid in stages compaction is uneven, and without drainage water collects under the slab and splits the concrete through freeze-thaw cycling. Money saved on these three items is repaid by rebuilding the whole court three years later.

Line Marking to FIBA Dimensions

Lines are marked to FIBA rules, 5 centimetres wide and in a single colour. Where more than one sport shares the surface, line colours are separated so they cannot be confused; the basketball lines always stay in the most prominent colour. The three-point arc, free-throw line and key dimensions are defined in the rules and cannot be set by eye. Before application the court is measured with a laser, the centre axis established and the layout marked on the surface; paint follows that setting out.

Basketball Goal Supply and Installation

Goals are installed with the ring at 3.05 metres and an internal diameter of 45 centimetres. Backboards are offered in tempered glass or acrylic; competition courts use a breakaway ring. The post foundation is planned together with the slab pour — a foundation opened afterwards means breaking and patching the slab. Goal type follows the use: a fixed post with a robust backboard in a school yard, a cantilever system on castors in a competition hall, an adjustable portable goal in a house garden. The safety margin between post and court line is maintained in every type.

Court Lighting Systems

Designed to 200 lux for training use and 500 lux for competition. LED floodlights of 200 – 400 W are set on four columns at angles that spread the light evenly across the court. What matters in lighting is not total wattage but even distribution: if one end of the court is bright and the other dim, players lose the ball. Floodlight angles are set so the light does not fall directly into a player's eyes. Lighting done properly doubles the daily usable hours of a court; evening hours are the only workable slot for working adults.

Perimeter Fencing, Cages and Netting

A standard installation is a 4 metre perimeter fence; it keeps the ball inside and prevents damage to neighbouring areas. Gate widths are planned so maintenance vehicles can enter. Fence height varies with the setting: on courts beside a road or car park the sections behind the baskets rise to 5 – 6 metres, while 3 metres may be enough inside an enclosed garden. Galvanised posts and panels are decisive against corrosion; painted steel rots from the base within a few winters.

Indoor Basketball Hall Construction

Structurally calculated steel frame, sandwich panel or membrane roof covering, hall lighting and ventilation infrastructure, and a timber or PVC floor. Clear ceiling height is planned at a minimum of 7 metres; in competition halls that figure is measured from the highest point of the ball, not from the ring. Two items matter as much as the floor in an indoor hall: ventilation and humidity control. In a hall without airflow, condensation reaches the floor, timber moves and PVC becomes slippery. Roof insulation, in turn, decides whether the hall is usable in summer.

How long a court lasts is decided by the layers beneath the surface, not by the surface itself. We keep every stage transparent.

Survey and Design

Bearing capacity, existing levels, the direction of water discharge and the electrical supply are measured on site. After measurement, the court layout, surface system and equipment are settled and an itemised written quotation is prepared. The survey is free and is not a sales visit: we measure, and we say whether the area suits a basketball court. If it does not, we say that too. Three things fixed at this stage bind the whole project — the axis the court will sit on, the direction water will run, and the depth of excavation.

Excavation, Fill and Drainage

Topsoil is removed completely, the ground filled with graded crushed stone and compacted with a roller. Drainage pipework and a perimeter channel are laid towards the point where rainwater will collect. This is the stage that determines the life of the court, and none of it is visible at handover. Topsoil contains organic matter; it decays over time, leaves voids and everything above it settles. If the stone is laid in a single lift the lower layer never compacts properly. Skip the drainage and water collects under the slab, freezes and expands in winter and splits the concrete from within. None of the three can be put right later; putting them right means rebuilding the court.

Concrete Slab

Q188 mesh reinforcement is set on chairs and 12 centimetres of C25 concrete poured. The surface is given a 0.5% fall in one direction. The concrete is left to cure for at least 21 days before surfacing; shorten that and the moisture in the slab is trapped under the coating and the surface blisters. The waiting period is the one item in the programme that is visible but not negotiable. Reinforcement must sit at the correct height within the slab: mesh laid on the base does not carry the tensile stress and the slab cracks down the middle. Expansion joints are also set out at this stage.

Surface Application

The surface is cleaned with pressurised water, primer is applied, the surface is smoothed with resurfacer filler and colour coats are laid. Each coat is left to dry; rain and high humidity stop work. The timing of this stage depends on the weather and it would be dishonest to name a day at the outset: in a damp week two days of work can stretch to five. A coat applied to a wet surface does not hold and lifts in flakes before long. The resurfacer layer closes millimetric level differences; skip it and ball bounce is not the same across the court.

Marking, Equipment and Handover

Lines are marked to FIBA dimensions, goals and perimeter fencing installed and any lighting commissioned. At handover the court dimensions and the layers applied are recorded in a handover document, and warranty papers and the maintenance schedule are given to you. The handover record serves both sides: it states which material was applied at what thickness, so years later there is nothing left to argue about. The maintenance schedule is given in writing rather than verbally — the life of a court depends largely on how it is used in the first year.

In school yards, surfaces with high shock absorption come to the fore; falls are far more frequent than on adult courts. The Ministry of Education standard outer size for a school court is 19 × 32 metres. Summer holidays are the best window for the work; we build the programme so it does not run into term time. Three further points are always discussed on school projects: a layout that does not clash with other areas of the yard, an arrangement that a hundred pupils can use at once during break, and a fence height that keeps the ball away from classroom windows. If the budget runs through a parent-teacher association or the provincial administration, we prepare the cost summary and bill of quantities in that format.

Municipalities and Public Authorities

For public projects we prepare the technical specification, cost summary and bill of quantities. Daytime use is heavy on park courts, so UV resistance and colour retention become decisive; adding lighting makes evening use possible as well. Use of a municipal court is unsupervised: it is open all day, users of every age come and go, and the maintenance team calls once a week. That makes the most durable material the most economical one. Planning seating, bins and lighting around the court raises usage noticeably. For tender files we supply unit price analyses and work items in the format requested.

Housing Estates, Residences and Homes

Estate gardens usually take a half court or a single basket area. A perimeter fence both keeps the ball in and reduces complaints from neighbouring flats. Sound is also considered in the choice of surface; EPDM is markedly quieter than hard surfaces. Because the decision is taken by the residents' general meeting rather than the management, it matters that the quotation is itemised and readable — people ask what each figure covers at the meeting. Siting is a management question too: we propose a layout as far as possible from block frontages, clear of the car park and with evening lighting that does not shine into balconies. If the space will not take even a half court, a single basket area is a realistic answer and more than enough for daily use by children.

Sports Clubs and Academies

On courts used for several hours of training a day, cushioned systems reduce joint loading. If competition is to be played, exact compliance with FIBA dimensions and line standards and the choice of ring and backboard become critical. Indoor solutions provide year-round use. On a club court the floor is not a comfort item but an injury-prevention item: a youth player training three hours a day loads the surface many times more than someone playing a few hours a week. That is why cushioned acrylic or timber is chosen; the shock absorption of both is measurable. Heating and ventilation also bear directly on the training calendar — a hall unusable in winter wastes half the investment.

Hotels and Holiday Villages

On courts inside a facility the surface colour is usually chosen to match the corporate identity. Work is planned outside the season; the programme is drawn up with the management so guest traffic is not disturbed. Usage intensity is low on hotel courts but visibility is high: the court is usually within sight of the pool or garden layout and appears in promotional photography. Colour retention and line definition therefore matter as much as durability. In coastal facilities salt-laden air wears fences and goal posts quickly; galvanised coating and a suitable paint system are a requirement rather than a preference on those projects. Where multi-purpose use is wanted, volleyball lines are added to the same surface.

Factories and Organised Industrial Zones

On industrial sites the court is usually positioned near the canteen and social facilities. Because it is used between shifts and in the evening, lighting is in scope on almost every project. Work is planned for weekends or shutdown periods so production is not disrupted. Two constraints stand out on factory courts: heavy vehicle traffic and dust. The court is placed away from forklift and lorry routes; where that is impossible it is physically protected by fencing and kerbing. Dust from production reduces slip resistance as it builds up, so the maintenance schedule specifies more frequent sweeping than on other projects. We also build courts shared by several plants in organised industrial zones; in that case size and equipment are scaled to the expected number of users.

Maintenance, Resurfacing and Lifespan

A properly built court gives no trouble for years, but no surface is maintenance-free. Knowing what each system needs from the outset is the cheapest way to protect the investment. Below you will find expected service lives, a year-by-year maintenance schedule, and when a court should be resurfaced rather than rebuilt.

Resurfacing over an Existing Slab

When the surface reaches the end of its life the whole court does not have to be rebuilt. If the concrete slab is sound, only the upper layers are renewed: the surface is cleaned, cracks repaired and primer and colour coats reapplied. The four cases below let you see roughly which applies before a survey is made.

What to Do, Year by Year

The maintenance schedule below applies to outdoor acrylic and EPDM systems. Followed regularly, the court reaches the upper end of its expected life; neglected, it falls below the lower end.

When What to do Why
Weekly Sweeping the surface; removing leaves, dust and litter. Fine dust building up on the surface reduces slip resistance. On porous systems such as EPDM it also reduces water permeability.
Monthly Pressure washing; checking lines and edge areas. A layer of dirt works into the surface over time and dulls the colour. Edge lifting caught early costs a few hundred lira to repair; left late, the area has to be renewed.
Annually Clearing drainage gratings, tightening fence connections, checking goal fixings. Blocked drainage holds water on the court; freeze-thaw cycling then works on the surface and the slab. A loosened goal fixing is a safety matter outright.
Every three to four years Re-marking lines and refreshing the top colour coat if needed. Line paint wears faster than the colour coat. Faded lines spoil the game and make the court look neglected.
Every eight to ten years Renewing the surface; the substructure is left untouched if the slab is sound. When the colour coat reaches the end of its life the surface roughens and begins to hold water. Renewal at this point costs a small fraction of a rebuild.

Resurfacing or Rebuilding?

The surface is cleaned, cracks repaired and primer and colour coats reapplied. The work takes a few days and the cost is far below a rebuild.

Cracks are opened out and filled, level differences corrected with resurfacer, and the surface then renewed. A hairline crack does not mean the slab is finished.

A rebuild is required

These are substructure faults; a coating laid over them separates in the same place within a year. The slab is broken out, substructure and drainage renewed and the slab recast.

System change

The type of use is changing (e.g. a school court becoming a club court)

If the slab is sound a different system can be laid over it; a standard acrylic surface can be converted to a cushioned system, for example. Because the substructure is retained, the cost stays limited.

Sports surfacing is far more a groundworks job than it appears. The crew doing it has to know what happens under the surface.

A written specification in the contract annex

Layer thicknesses, material brands and acceptance criteria are given in writing. What will be applied on site is settled before work starts. Without a specification, disagreement is inevitable: both parties look at the same court and understand different things. A written specification settles that at the outset and stays with you after the work is finished.

Published unit prices

Our square metre prices are open on this page. After the survey the quotation is itemised; no item appears later. Publishing prices binds us too: as long as a figure stands on the page we cannot quote anyone differently. The bands are reviewed quarterly and the review date is shown on the page.

No shortcuts in the layer nobody sees

A mesh-reinforced concrete slab, compacted crushed stone fill and drainage. This is the part that determines the life of the court, and none of it is visible on handover day. Savings made in these layers go unnoticed in the first year and show themselves in the second winter; at that point it is not a repair but a rebuild.

The concrete is given its curing time

After the slab is poured we wait at least 21 days before surfacing. Shortening it blisters the surface within the first year. This wait is the one item in the programme that is visible but not open to negotiation; we do not cut it to bring a handover date forward.

Every stage from site survey to handover is carried out by our own team. Material brands and standards are listed in the contract annex; warranty documents and a maintenance schedule are handed over on completion. In sports surfacing the most expensive mistake is saving money on the layers nobody sees: on handover day every court looks good, the difference shows in the second winter. That is why our quotations set out the substructure items in the same detail as the surface, and the values measured during the survey are shared in writing. We do not sell work we cannot do or a system that does not fit; if your site is not suitable for a basketball court, we say so at the survey.

Where We Work

Projects within Ankara

Our team is based in Ankara. Surveys inside the city are generally made the day after the enquiry; measurement and quotation are completed within the same week. Because material and crew movements run over short distances during construction, the programme rarely slips for anything other than the weather. No location factor is applied to projects within Ankara.

Projects outside Ankara

We survey and build across Turkey. On out-of-city work the unit price rises by between 3% and 8% to cover haulage, crew accommodation and plant mobilisation; that difference is shown as a separate item in the quotation rather than hidden in the total. In distant provinces surveys are planned so that several projects can be assessed on the same trip.

Climate and the work calendar

In the Central Anatolian climate the most productive window for outdoor surfacing runs from April to October. Surface coats are applied within a defined temperature and humidity range; coats laid in winter do not hold. Substructure, excavation and concrete work, on the other hand, can continue through the winter. Summer holidays are the best time for school projects and shutdown periods for industrial sites.

Cost and Pricing

How much does a basketball court cost in 2026?

On outdoor courts the turnkey unit cost runs between 190 – 3.300 ₺/m², depending on the surface system chosen. For a court at FIBA dimensions (28 × 15 m, or 608 m² of surfaced area) with a standard acrylic surface, the total comes out in the range of 116 thousand ₺ – 237 thousand ₺. On indoor courts the steel structure and roof are also in scope, so the unit cost rises to 900 – 7.500 ₺/m². All figures exclude VAT.

What makes the price per square metre vary?

Six factors set the unit price: the condition of the existing ground and how much excavation it needs, the surface system chosen, the court size, equipment such as fencing and lighting, whether the court is outdoor or indoor, and the location of the site. On small areas the fixed costs — site set-up, haulage, crew day rates, plant mobilisation — are divided across fewer square metres, so the cost per square metre rises; below 300 m² that increase is about 12%, and below 150 m² about 22%.

What is included in the price per square metre?

The outdoor unit price covers ground survey, excavation, crushed stone fill, drainage, a mesh-reinforced concrete slab, the surface application and line marking to FIBA dimensions. Perimeter fencing, lighting, goals and seating are separate items and are shown individually in the quotation. You can tick these in the calculator to see the estimated total.

Does a half court make sense, and what does it cost?

Where space is tight or the budget limited, a half court (15 × 14 m, 306 m²) covers about a third of the area of a full court. With a standard acrylic surface the estimated cost is in the range of 65 thousand ₺ – 134 thousand ₺. It is adequate for training, school breaks and housing-estate use; official competition cannot be played on it.

Is the figure from the calculator binding?

No. The calculator multiplies our published current unit price bands by the dimensions you enter and returns a range; it is there to help you form a preliminary budget. The final figure is settled in a written quotation prepared after the ground has been inspected and measured on site.

Do the prices include VAT?

All figures published on this site exclude VAT. Most of our corporate buyers reclaim VAT, which is why unit prices are presented this way. VAT is shown as a separate line in the written quotation. The published unit prices are valid as of August 2026 and are reviewed quarterly.

Surface Systems

Acrylic or EPDM — which is more suitable?

Acrylic (190 – 390 ₺/m²) is a hard, fast surface; ball bounce is predictable, maintenance is easy and the cost is lower. EPDM / tartan (2.400 – 3.300 ₺/m²) absorbs impact far better thanks to its granular structure, which puts it ahead in school yards and areas used heavily by children, where the risk of falls is high. If only basketball will be played, we recommend acrylic; for multi-purpose use with heavy use by children, EPDM.

What is the difference between cushioned and standard acrylic?

In the cushioned system four cushioning coats are applied between the primer and the colour layers. That layer reduces load on joints and knees and delays fatigue in long training sessions. The difference in unit cost is 210 – 620 ₺/m² instead of 190 – 390 ₺/m². It is chosen for club and academy courts; standard acrylic is sufficient on estate courts used a few hours a week.

Can basketball be played on artificial turf?

It can, but ball bounce is lower than on hard surfaces and the foot may slide on sharp changes of direction. Artificial turf (1.100 – 1.600 ₺/m²) is chosen for multi-purpose courts where volleyball and five-a-side football will also be played, or for projects where budget is the deciding factor. If only basketball will be played, we recommend acrylic or EPDM.

Can the surface be applied over existing asphalt or concrete?

If the levels, falls and cracking of the existing slab are suitable, only the surface is replaced without renewing the substructure. In that case the unit cost drops to 450 – 900 ₺/m² and the work is completed within a few days. If there is settlement, deep cracking or ponding water on the slab, repair comes first; we measure this at the survey and report it.

Timber or PVC in an indoor hall?

Timber (1.500 – 7.500 ₺/m²) is the competition standard; the sprung batten system determines ball bounce and player comfort, and its life exceeds twenty years, though it requires humidity control and periodic lacquering. PVC / polyurethane (the lower end of the 900 – 7.500 ₺/m² band) is more economical, easier to maintain and sufficient for multi-purpose halls.

Dimensions and Substructure

What are the standard basketball court dimensions?

A FIBA competition court measures 28 × 15 m, giving a playing area of 420 m². A safety margin of at least 2 m must be left in every direction between the court line and any fence, wall or seating; the area actually surfaced therefore rises to 608 m². Cost calculations are based on that outer area.

What are the ring height and diameter?

The ring is fixed at 3,05 m above the surface and has an internal diameter of 45 cm. The backboard is offered in tempered glass or acrylic; competition courts use a breakaway ring. The goal post foundation is planned together with the slab pour.

How far out is the three-point line?

The three-point arc is 6,75 m from the centre of the basket, and the free-throw line 4,6 m. Line width is 5 cm. These dimensions are defined in the FIBA rules and are applied identically on every court we build.

How thick should the concrete be, and is mesh reinforcement necessary?

We pour a C25 slab 12 cm thick with Q188 mesh reinforcement. Reinforcement is not optional: a slab poured without it cracks in the first winter under thermal movement and takes the surface with it. Beneath the slab there is 20 cm of compacted graded crushed stone fill.

How is rainwater discharged?

The surface is given a fall of 0,5 % in a single direction and drainage pipework with a perimeter channel is laid at the point where water collects. Water standing on the court both shortens the life of the surface and makes it unusable for hours after rain. On permeable systems such as EPDM the water passes through the surface and is carried away by the drainage layer.

What lighting level should a court have?

We design to 200 lüks. What matters is not total wattage but even distribution: if one end of the court is bright and the other dim, players lose the ball. LED floodlights of 200 – 400 W are set on four columns at angles that keep the light out of players' eyes.

Is a building permit needed for an indoor hall?

An indoor hall is a roofed structure and normally requires a permit from the relevant municipality; the procedure varies with the zoning status of the land and the type of structure. We prepare the structural calculations and project drawings; the permit application is followed up by the property owner. No permit is required for an outdoor court, but the local authority should still be consulted about the placement.

Process and Handover

How long does building a basketball court take?

A standard outdoor court is completed in 18 – 30 days when the weather allows. The largest single item in that period is the 21 days of concrete curing, which cannot be shortened. On resurfacing work, where there is no excavation or concrete, the job is finished within a few days. Indoor halls are planned separately according to the steel structure programme.

Is there a charge for the site survey?

No. Surveys in Ankara and the surrounding area are free of charge; we arrange an appointment within 24 hours of your enquiry. At the survey we measure the ground condition, levels and electrical supply on site, then prepare an itemised written quotation. Do you prepare specifications for school and municipal projects?

Maintenance and Warranty

What does annual maintenance cost?

On acrylic courts annual maintenance amounts to cleaning the surface and touching up the lines; the cost stays below 1% of the investment. The top colour coat needs renewing every 6 – 8 years, and that work falls in the 450 – 900 ₺/m² band. On EPDM courts, spots that have lost granules are repaired individually. Timber floors need annual lacquering and humidity control; timber is the system with the highest maintenance cost.

How often should the surface be renewed?

It depends on how heavily the court is used and on the climate. We expect 8 – 10 years from standard acrylic, 10 – 12 from cushioned acrylic, 10 – 15 from EPDM and 20 – 25 from timber. When renewal is due and the substructure is sound, only the surface is replaced — at a cost far below building from scratch.

Do you give a warranty?

Our warranty on workmanship and installation is set out in writing in the contract. The material warranty belongs to the manufacturer and is handed over with the product documentation. The scope, duration and exclusions of the warranty are stated clearly in the annex to the quotation.
